Short introduction

A crossover sends the signal divided between the various frequency ranges to individual amps and speakers (typical: 20-100Hz to a pair of subs, 20-20000Hz to fullrange speakers and 6000Hz-20000Hz to the tweeters), while an isolator takes the summed sound and sends it further to a single output source. An isolator is essentially a simple EQ device with a lot of range in each band.

The legend of crossovers: Richard Long and Associates (RLA)

RLA owned by Richard Long, produced many different crossovers. RLA crossovers have been designed by Alan Fierstein present owner of Acoustilog. Mr Fierstein retains the complete schematics and still evaluates, repairs, modifies frequencies and gain, and customizes these old units.

Disco Sound Associates X-1000: the ancestor of X-2000 (before Alan Fierstein design)

RLA X-2000: the first crossover produced by RLA, 4 ways x-over, 2 racks space, metal knobs. Paradise Garage had it originally.

RLA X-3000: the most famous unit, 3 ways x-over, 1 rack space, red knobs.

RLA X-4000: 1 rack space version of X-2000, the upgrade crossover of Paradise Garage.

RLA X-5000: special version with level control of sub-bass, 3 ways x-over.

RLA X-6000e: only 6 units produced, 5 ways x-over.
